Truck driver charged after crash – Concord

A lorry driver has been charged after a motorcyclist was seriously injured following an accident in Sydney’s Inner West yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Parramatta Road, Concord, just before 2.30pm (Monday August 22, 2022), following reports of an accident.

A Volvo tipper and trailer were traveling west when they collided with a Honda motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction at the M4 junction.

The runner, an 18-year-old man, was treated by paramedics for life-threatening injuries and taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Burwood Police Area Command officers established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

The truck driver, a 60-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

He was escorted to Merrylands Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm – dangerous driving and negligent driving (causing grievous bodily harm).

The Merrylands man was released on bail to appear in Burwood Local Court on Tuesday September 20, 2022.
