After the easing of travel restrictions related to COVID-19, the Swedish Motorcyclists Association (SMC) Travel has relaunched its popular membership tours with great success.

FIA Member Club SMC is a non-profit organization for motorcyclists with 65,000 members. SMC started SMC Travel about 20 years ago with rider-with-rider tours. At that time it was the first agency in Sweden for motorcyclists. Today, there are about 20 other companies that offer motorcycle tours but SMC Travel remains the company that offers the most tours in the travel program.

The tours offered by SMC Travel are for members only. There are about 25 tours a year in Sweden, Norway, Isle of Man, Germany, Croatia, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, United States United States and New Zealand. One or two guides are in charge of the tours, they take care of all the details such as booking ferries, hotels, renting motorbikes and planning an interesting tour. A new tour this year is for the first 24 hours of D-Day. Another is a combination of a week of gravel lessons and driving on gravel roads, sleeping in tents and cooking your meal in your own outdoor kitchen somewhere in the middle of nowhere in northern Sweden.

Each member receives the travel catalog at the end of November and sales begin in December. The tours are very popular (every participant rates the tour content and the quality of the guide at the end of the tour) and almost all sell out within an hour of being released.

Some circuits require International Driving Permits (IDPs), but SMC, through its partnership with FIA member club Riksförbundet M-Sverige, helps its members acquire IDPs. As SMC is a member of the FIA, SMC members have access to a wide range of organizations affiliated with the AIT/FIA customs network to request Customs Passage Booklets (DPC) if needed.
