Maruti Suzuki invites startups under the 6th cohort of the MAIL, Auto News, ET Auto initiative

According to the automaker, winning startups will have the opportunity to undertake paid proof of concept (PoC) with the company. These selected startups will be closely supervised by industry experts in the ecosystem of national and international startups.

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) announced on Friday that it was welcoming applications for the sixth cohort of its Mobility & Automobile Innovation Lab (MAIL) program to which start-ups working in the mobility and automotive space are eligible to participate.

According to the automaker, winning startups will have the opportunity to undertake paid proof of concept (PoC) with the company. These selected startups will be closely supervised by industry experts in the ecosystem of national and international startups. Participating startups will have the opportunity to transform their innovative ideas into practical and disruptive solutions, and to showcase their entrepreneurial capacities.

Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and CEO of MSIL, said, “As a key stakeholder, we are committed to nurturing and promoting a culture of innovation in this dynamic industry. Over the past two years, we have had an encouraging experience with the MAIL initiative. Already 25 startups are engaged with us and 13 Proof of Concepts have been activated. Several of them are successful in bringing value to the business of the automotive industry. “

“The sixth cohort will help further expand the initiative and strengthen the culture of innovation, as we co-create solutions for our customers, businesses and industry,” he added.

The automaker launched its MAIL program in January 2019 to identify and bring together startups offering innovative and cutting-edge solutions, and further collaborate to co-create technological solutions in the field of mobility and the automotive space.

Maruti Suzuki has partnered with GHV Accelerator, an Indo-Japanese seed fund, to identify and address start-ups with innovative and customer-oriented solutions. Candidate potential is analyzed, necessary support and guidance provided for their growth under a 3-month ramp-up period, according to the company statement.
