India: This gardener from Bengaluru is a multimillionaire, with houses, gold, cars and much more
Bengaluru (Karnataka): Karnataka Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials were shocked to discover the wealth of Shivalingaiah, a Bangalore Development Authority gardener who reportedly owned four houses, agricultural and commercial land, three cars as well as other assets.
According to a statement by ACB, the gardener owned three houses, five prime plots in Bengaluru, agricultural and commercial land in Channapatna in Ramanagara and Mysuru district worth millions of rupees, 510 grams of gold ornaments, 700 grams of silver items, 2 two-wheelers, three cars, Rs 86,000 in cash, savings or deposits of Rs 80,000 and household items worth Rs 10,000,000.
On Friday, more than 500 ACB officials swooped down on 21 government agents at 80 locations suspected of amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income, ACB authorities said yesterday.
Search operations by ACB officials began on Friday morning and a huge amount of gold and silver ornaments, cash, savings, land and vehicles were seized from the looted locations.
In Karwar district, ACB officials raided the residence of Sridhar BS district registrar and found two houses in various settlements in Bengaluru, an open site in Lakkasandra, 650 silver ornaments, a farm at Kanakapura Maralawadi, two acres of land at Mailanahalli at Nelamangala Taluka, two motorbikes, two cars, Rs 30,000 in cash, savings or deposits of Rs 24 lakhs in various banks and household items worth Rs 6 lakhs .
Cash and jewelry were seized from a house belonging to the parents of Police Inspector Uday Ravi at Mudugal in Raichur district of Karnataka.
Meanwhile, in Udupi, ACB officials raided the home of Harish, assistant engineer in the small-scale irrigation department.
A total of 80 ACB teams have raided and are currently checking assets, properties, gold, bank accounts and other valuables. Document verification and information gathering are currently underway.
