Dún Laoghaire crash: Elderly woman dies after being hit by lorry in Dublin

An elderly woman has died after being hit by a lorry in Dublin.

The fatal accident happened on George’s Street Lower at the junction with Convent Lane in Dún Laoghaire around 10am on Friday.

The road remains closed following the incident in Myrtle Square, between Bloomfield Shopping Center and St Michael’s Hospital.

It is understood the woman, 70, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. His body was taken to St Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown, where an autopsy will take place in due course.

The driver of the truck, in his 30s, and his passenger, also in his 30s, were treated at the scene for their injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.

A Garda spokesperson said: “The Gardaí are appealing for all witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“Any road users who were traveling in the area at the time and who may have camera footage (including dash cams) are requested to make such footage available to Gardaí.
