Drugs worth Rs 1.5 crore seized from a truck in Madhya Pradesh; 4 stopped
Police seized 952 kg of ganja worth around 1.5 crore rupees from a truck in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh and arrested four people in connection, officials said.
Police were told that a contraband shipment was due to arrive from Uttar Pradesh, after which they intercepted a container truck at Chak Passage under the Mauganj Police Station on Tuesday, about 60 km from the district headquarters of Rewa, according to a police statement. .
After searching the vehicle, police found 53 bags containing ganja, hidden in a cabin near the driver’s seat.
The drug consignment seized was worth around 1.5 crore rupees on the international market, police said in a statement on Tuesday.
Two people traveling in the truck were arrested.
In addition, two people who were riding motorcycles in front of the truck to monitor the police presence were also arrested, the statement said.
Police also seized six cell phones, as well as the truck and motorcycle, he said.
One case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), police added.
