Crowd sets truck on fire after running over two young men
On Saturday, a mob set fire to a dump truck following the murder of two young men on motorbikes in the city’s Central District.
The crash happened near Saleem Centre, UP Morr, within the confines of New Karachi Police Station, where the dump truck hit and ran over two young men heading towards Nagan Chowrangi on a motorbike.
The truck driver fled after the accident leaving the vehicle behind after which a large number of people who had gathered at the scene set fire to the truck in protest at the accident.
The burning truck caused a massive traffic jam on the road from Powerhouse Chowrangi to Nagan Chowrangi. The fire department was also notified of the incident, which sent a firefighter to the road and saved the truck from being completely burnt out.
Police and paramedics transported the bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for forensic formalities. Later, the bodies were transferred to a morgue.
